Openverse API alternative for AI agents
Openverse is a free, open source search engine for openly licensed works, built as part of the WordPress project, with a much larger catalog than Lightdrift. Its API searches titles, descriptions, and tags by keyword. Lightdrift searches a smaller, captioned index by meaning or by reference image, hosts the files, and ships an MCP server.

- You want hosted files and commercial-use licenses by default.
